Cycle for Sight is creeping up on us rather quickly - with now only a month until we head off on our big trip!
We've already had a couple of great training rides, the first was out towards Cambridge, with a stop off at the Bikery Cafe (massive plug for them, it was an awesome meal), and then followed up with a beautiful ride out towards Pironigia on the 12th of November - sunny and blue sky everywhere, and a fantastic meal at The Nest for lunch too!
The much anticipated Perry Bridge has also finally been opened earlier in the month, and we thought we'd give the new track from Pukete through to Ngaruawahia a crack as well. The bridge itself is incredibly impressive - so colourful and massive, a great asset to our city's cycle trails, and w fantastic link to Ngaruawahia too.
It was time to trial some metal roads and hills too - so we headed out towards Glen Massey and MIike's navigation skills were immediately shown up as a bit flawed as we ended up on a forest trail we weren't meant to be on. Turning around and heading back down the hill was a welcome break!
A good couple of rides now under our belts, we're preparing to tackle closer to 80/90kms in a day over the next few weekends, building up to an overnighter in Rotorua to test our gear and make sure it all works!
Until next time,
