"Our vision is for a world where no one is needlessly blind" - Fred Hollows

Helping Restore Sight

The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ works in the Pacific where 4 out of 5 people who are blind don't need to be; their condition is preventable or treatable. We restore sight to the needlessly blind and train local eye health specialists to provide eye care services in their own communities.

Around 70 per cent of avoidable blindness in the Pacific is caused by cataracts, a cloudiness in the lens of the eye. Modern cataract surgery, which uses an intraocular lens (IOL) to replace the clouded lens of the eye, takes just 20 minutes and can cost as little as $25 in some countries.

You can help! Our Givealittle page is linked above, and you're welcome to join us at any stage of the ride to help make a difference in raising awareness for the Foundation. Happy Cycling!
